Chord construction is super-important to know, for both guitar and bass players.
Anytime you want to do any sort of single note playing – on either instrument – the notes that will work best for you will be the ones that are already present in the chord that is being played, or some variation of them. For that reason, you need to understand how chords are built.
There are four basic triads that account for our four main types of chords: major, minor, augmented, and diminished.
