Play Like The Legends
Well, hello! Welcome to Play Like the Legends. Come on in, grab your guitar, and let’s have some fun with this. In this course, we’re going to sit down together and study seven of the greatest guitar players who ever lived — Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, John Fogerty, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan. Now, I’m not going to try to teach you to copy these guys note for note — nobody can do what they do, and that’s okay. What I want to show you is how these legends have influenced me, and how they can influence you. We’re going to look at their signature moves, their tone, the way they think about the guitar, and then we’re going to take those ideas and make them our own.
Here’s the thing about studying the greats — if something worked once, it’ll work again. These guys figured out things on the guitar that just work, and there’s no reason you can’t take those same ideas and put your own spin on them. So don’t worry about playing it exactly like the record. That’s not the point. The point is to soak up what made these players special, add it to your own bag of tricks, and have a blast doing it. Quality before quantity, as I always say, so take your time with each lesson, and enjoy the journey.
