Strumming Made Simple.

No More Frustration Or Confusion

Finally - A Detailed, Laser-Targeted Breakdown Of The

Art And Science Of Strumming

Once you know the chords to a song, everything else comes down to strumming...

Have you ever felt like many of the songs you play sound and feel the same? Perhaps every song you touch comes out with a country flavor, or a blues flavor, or a straight feel, even if it is meant to be something else entirely! Some players report that the fun and zest, the real enjoyment of playing the guitar and exploring new territory just isn't there anymore, because everything they play sounds tired and worn out now.

It is quite common for beginners - and even intermediate players - to fall into "the strumming rut" struggling with their rhythm, at times feeling like the fun and zest has left the guitar, because there just aren't any new ideas anymore. Even when they learn a new song, it quickly begins to feel like the last one...

The simple fact is that many songs share the same chords, so the strumming really does make a huge difference.

100+ Famous Hits Can't Be Wrong...

It is a well-known fact that the most popular chord progression in popular music is based on just four chords. For instance, in the key of G it is: G, D, Em, C. In the key of A, it would be A, E, F#m, D. This exact chord progression has been used in well over 100 Top 40 songs in the last few decades.

If such a huge number of the most popular songs are using the exact same chord progression then what differentiates them enough to become so popular?

The answer is Strumming!

Melody plays a big role too of course, but the rhythm is the glue that holds everything else together.

Students often approach me, asking them to teach them the strumming pattern to a specific song they're working on. Others just go straight to places like Youtube to see what they can find. That's cool, but at the end of the day, that's a very limiting approach.

Give A Man A Fish...

There's an old bit of wisdom that says: Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for a lifetime.

There's a lot of truth in that expression, and it applies to the guitar too.

Rather than simply teach you the strum patterns for a few popular songs, I'd far prefer to give you the tools you need to truly understand rhythm for yourself... the ability to break down strum patterns on your own and even create new ones too! That's why in my guitar course, Essentials of Strumming & Rhythm Guitar, you're not only going to get a few juicy strum patterns to use here and there. Along the way, you'll learn how to count music and to truly understand rhythm. Because, once you have the skills of dissecting and replicating a rhythm for yourself, there's no stopping you anymore! And yes, along the way we're going to learn tons of strumming patterns, but they will all be used as examples teaching you the overall concepts so that at the end of the course the sum is indeed worth more than the parts!

The skill set you will gain from this course on strumming and rhythm will empower you to do a multitude of things, effectively allowing you to figure out others' rhythms and even create new rhythms for yourself for the rest of your life.

You may only know three chords at the moment, but if you know many different ways to strum those chords, your friends will think you've played much longer than you have.

It's all about increasing your repertoire and being able to use what you already know more effectively!

Colin, your persona in this course is that of a very serious teacher with a very good SENSE OF HUMOR. You are very direct with your ideas and very understandable with your directions ‘Practice Practice Practice’ BUT have fun doing so.

I am having a lot of fun. Your strum patterns are terrific and very helpful and as they say timing is everything but location helps a lot also. Your course is chock full of guitar info and is too much to talk about here, just let me say “Thank You” for giving me a very clear path to follow and well explained instructions to keep me moving forward.

And I will ‘Keep on Strummin’

How Will This Course Help Me Identify

The Strum Patterns Of My Favorite Songs?

One of the most potentially frustrating things about learning new songs is being able to figure out the chords, but still not being able to make it sound just right. Many songs rely on cool little strumming patterns to give them their unique personality, and if you don't hit those patterns bang on, the song can fall flat.

In Essentials of Strumming & Rhythm Guitar, you will learn how to recognize what kind of strumming to use in each situation. We'll cover more than 20 specific strum patterns individually and in detail, but more importantly, you'll learn how they all work and how you can modify those into dozens, even hundreds of your own variations. You'll also learn how to break down rhythms so you can identify all the 'moving parts' and put them together into a proper strum pattern.

We'll take a close look at many of the most famous strumming patterns that you will find in many of the most popular songs across all genres. You will be fully equipped to learn any song you want to, without needing help! Talk about a confidence builder!

  • A famous strum pattern used by the Beatles and Rolling Stones
  • Demystify rhythms by breaking them into bite-sized chunks
  • The classic strumming technique used by country & western players
  • An essential strumming technique used in blues and rock

Good Rhythm Applies To ALL Music

When you improve your strumming and rhythm on the guitar, it affects every type of music you might want to play. Some people enjoy playing the blues, some people only like country, while others enjoy playing metal, rock and pop as well! It really doesn’t matter what type of music you play, or might want to play in the future, having a strong foundation in rhythm will benefit you greatly in all these genres.

Awesome rhythm & strumming course! You kept it simple and straight forward with some added touches. Very cool! It truly has helped me as a rhythm guitarist and a solo musician. Your format (the 3 screen) and honest approach really was a great help.

This seasoned guitarist benefited richly – it was worth every penny, but continue to keep them affordably priced. I highly recommend this course for everyone who plays guitar… electric or acoustic. Keep’um coming!! Hey how about a course for modern popular chord progressions – acoustic as well as electric!

Thanks Colin… you rock man!

Taking It Beyond Just Strumming

Strumming is great: it is the foundation that everything else is built on. If you don’t have a strong and solid strum, the song quickly falls apart. But what if you want to start getting a little bit more fancy? Every student I’ve ever taught has been happy with basic strums for a while, for the time it takes them to really dig in and master them. But pretty soon, they want to embellish on those just a bit.

That’s when I start teaching them how to hit the bass note first, and add a strum. By breaking the pattern up in this fashion, you get a very different sound and feel to the song, allowing you to go in even more directions with it.

That’s what most of the second section in Essentials of Strumming & Rhythm Guitar is all about, so you’ll thoroughly learn the basics in the first half of the course, and then, when you’re ready, we’ll dig into some more advanced strumming patterns in the second half. We’ll cover how to pick bass notes along with your strumming, as well as how to alternate between different bass notes, and of course, which bass notes to choose!

You’ll learn how to modify or change up your strumming from verse to verse, a technique which adds a lot of depth to the song overall.

Imagine yourself playing confidently through a new song you’ve just learned, varying strum patterns as you go in such a way that the song really comes alive!

The strum patterns are really great. Using the book to go along with your video made it so clear. I couldn’t believe how easy you made it.

Now all I have to do is practice all of them with some rhythm and I’m sure I will get a lot better at it. Thank you so much for a great course. Take care and GOD bless!!!!!!

Laser Targeted Strumming Lesson

Essentials of Strumming & Rhythm Guitar is a four-hour course focused solely on how to strum your guitar and understand rhythms. If you were to get in-person strumming lessons locally, you’d likely be paying the going rate of about $30 per half hour. Do the math, and you find out that the same amount of instruction would cost you $240… if you could find a properly experienced teacher, to cover the topic in the same detail as I’ve done!

Also, consider the fact that in Essentials of Strumming & Rhythm Guitar I’ve boiled down the most powerful, most important aspects of strumming and rhythm, and still it came to four hours! A normal one-on-one lesson would end up taking you far longer to cover the same material, that’s just the way these things work. At $70, Essentials of Strumming & Rhythm Guitar is not only an incredible tool to improve your guitar playing, it is also a whopping 70% discount over the minimum you might pay to get the same training elsewhere.

I recently purchased the Rhythm Guitar course, and have found it to be very helpful. My timing has improved greatly, and I’m finding it much easier to pick out the rhythm in songs.

For anyone wanting a solid base for strumming, this is a good purchase.

Colin, this course does exactly as described and has made a huge difference to my ability to strum and keep rhythm within a count.

I have been playing what I thought was rhythm for many years, but now I can hear the beat, it is no longer random. It does not take long through your method of teaching to understand what makes and sounds like an excellent rhythm.

Your patterns are printed and on my wall and are the first thing I practice. Many thanks indeed!

The Essentials of Strumming and Rhythm Guitar was exactly what the doctor ordered. I will go over and over it again and again. I need to know this stuff like the back of my hand – At least that is my goal.

Great job Colin with the teaching!

Received a guitar as a Christmas present a year ago. It was my request, I always wanted to learn to play. I practiced chords and scales for a year. Very, very boring but I did get better. I was getting disillusioned because I was not making music. The Strumming course has helped me a great deal.

I enjoy practicing much more using the techniques taught in the course.
